The creation of this forum (which focused on climate change last year and biodiversity conservation the year before) is another indication of the effort made by IBERDROLA to keep abreast of issues of environmental awareness in society and strengthen its commitment to the environment.
In the course of this meeting, managers in charge of environmental affairs in IBERDROLA explained the company's strategy for promoting efficiency from a triple perspective: as a utility, as a supplier and as an energy consumer.
In this regard, the company highlighted some of the initiatives underway, such as the promotion of renewable energy sources, intelligent grid projects, support for new technologies such as electrical vehicles and the offering of products that enable responsible use of resources and energy savings.
IBERDROLA also pointed out that as an energy consumer, it strives to develop sustainable workplaces equipped with intelligent lighting systems, installations designed to minimise water consumption and centralised air-conditioning systems.
Lastly, the company's managers presented its new firm IBERDROLA Servicios Energéticos (Energy Services) to promote energy savings, efficiency and services in homes, companies and public administrations, in line with national and European Union policies on energy matters.
This subsidiary of IBERDROLA provides services aimed at enhancing comprehensive energy management in both public and private buildings, premises and infrastructure, offering new products associated to the energy supply and linked to comprehensive energy management and facility maintenance, environmental protection and the use of renewable energies.
The holding of this third meeting of the IBERDROLA Environmental Forum with external experts reaffirms the company's commitment to building ongoing constructive dialogue with its various stakeholders in order to learn about their perception and expectations of the initiatives being carried out in this regard.
Another of this aims pursued by this project, which aims to debate topical issues on an annual basis, is to meet the obligations acquired with external members. Therefore, each meeting includes a session in which compliance with the commitments undertaken in previous editions is analysed.
The intention of the company with this ground-breaking initiative in Spain is to promote best practices in the area of the environment, optimise management and enhance the search for solutions to problems linked to the natural environment.
Managers from the Strategy and Studies Group, Business Networks Spain, Generation, Environment and Corporate Reputation divisions take part in this forum along with managers from the renewable energies and engineering subsidiaries.
As regards the external experts, the Environmental Forum was also attended by representatives from the company's various stakeholders, such as non-governmental organisations, academic institutions, research centres, investment analysts, media, regulators, customers and suppliers.
