Among those present at the staff meeting there was Director of Department for capital construction of Rosatom State Corporation Sergey Budylin, Deputy General Director – Director for capital construction of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC Viktor Suchkov and Director of Directorate of Constructed Baltic NPP Yevgeny Vlasenko, Director of Department for capital construction of the Concern Nikolay Pavlenko, Adviser of General Director of the Concern Yury Shalimov, representatives of SPAEP OJSC, heads of the NPP under construction and Northern Construction Management OJSC (SUS), representatives of contracting and subcontracting organizations.
Alexander Scherikanov told the audience that at that moment the works were being carried out at 24 temporary and auxiliary facilities at the construction base. The area for the industrial site and construction base has been half-planned. The concrete plant water supply network and oily sewer are being put into operation.
On-site roads and collecting ditches are under construction. The amount of work in the concrete aggregates storage areas has been fulfilled by one third, reinforcement assembly and, service-and-office buildings construction have been commenced. The site power networks and structures, the medical and the meal stations are being prepared to commissioning.
As explained by Scherikanov, by mid-December it’s necessary to develop a logistic scheme of cargo and inert materials delivery to the construction site and determine the location of a wharf and a road for heavy goods, a water pipeline and a railway.
The participants of the staff meeting discussed problems which required solution and set the goals for subcontractors for December of this year and for 2011. Summarizing the meeting results, Director of Department for capital construction of Rosatom State Corporation Sergey Budylin noted that all works were carried out according to the schedule, and people engaged in the construction were doing their best to start laying concrete under the first power unit in April of 2011.
The foundation stone of Baltic nuclear power plant was laid on February 25, 2010 in Neman district of Kalinigrad region. The plant is being constructed upon the NPP-2006 project and will consist of two power units of total capacity equal to 2300 mW. The first power unit is to be started up in 2016, and the second – in 2018. The purpose of the plant is to supply power to Kalinigrad region and abroad. For the first time in the Russian nuclear power industry private investors including foreigners are offered to participate in the project. They can get a share of up to 49% in the Baltic NPP project. At present negotiations with potential investors continue.
