Power Machines company participates in hydraulic unit’s renovation project for Rybinskaya HPP operated by RusHydro JSC

Power Machines and RusHydro signed a contract to renovate Rybinskaya HPP’s hydraulic unit No. 2 on a turnkey basis. Under this contract, Power Machines company is to design, manufacture, and supply to Rybinskaya HPP a 65 MW hydraulic unit as well as auxiliary equipment.

Power Machines’ specialists will also dismantle old machinery, supervise installation activities, manage start-up and commissioning operations, and carry out warranty tests. The renovation project is expected to allow for increasing the hydraulic unit’s capacity by 10 MW, and therefore enhancing its technical and economic performances.
Equipment delivery is scheduled to commence in Q4 2012 and terminate in Q1 2013. The renovated hydraulic unit is anticipated to be put into operation in Q3 2013.
Power Machines company has already participated in renovation projects at Rybinskaya HPP – in 1998–2001 two 63.2 MW hydraulic units were manufactured and supplied to the power plant. The upgrade activities enabled an 8.2 MW increase of each hydraulic unit’s capacity while the power plant’s installed capacity achieved 346.4 MW.
By implementing this project Power Machines and RusHydro continue their successful cooperation and contribute to the development of the national hydropower industry. Other current projects that require joint efforts by hydropower specialists and power engineers include repair operations at Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP, construction activities at Boguchanskaya HPP and Zagorskaya PSPP-2 as well as a number of projects to upgrade hydraulic units at Volzhskaya, Saratovskaya, Zhigulyovskaya, and Cheboksarskaya HPPs.
