Besides the project shall include construction of 330 kV open type switchgear of 330 kV East-North power transmission line, and laying a fiber optic transmission line (FOL) at sections of North − Parnas and Parnas − East 330 kV power transmission line. In the nearest future the ground works shall begin on the site of the future substation – the site fence shall be built, the topsoil shall be removed and openings were made in the woods for power transmission lines 330 kV.
Power facility implementation planned for 2013 shall significantly relieve the load from 330 kV Northern substation, promote development of the Parnas area, and create a possibility to organize process connection to main transmission grid for new residential complexes in the actively developing northern district of St. Petersburg.
Construction of 330 kV Parnas substation is part of the Agreement on implementation of measures for provision of reliable power supply and creation of conditions for connection of the users in the Leningrad Region to electric power grid which were signed by JSC FGC UES and the Government of the Leningrad Region in June 2007. Total investments in construction of the power facility shall amount to 3.1 billion rubles.
Besides, as part of the Agreement with the Government of St. Petersburg, JSC FGC UES implements a large-scale complex of actions aimed at increasing reliability of power supply for users in the city. The works currently performed in the region include reconstruction of 11 substations 220−330 kV. Altogether the program of new building and reconstruction of UNEG facilities by 2015 the Northern capital shall experience implementation of 2420 MVA of additional transformer capacity and 685.5 km of power transmission lines shall be built. Investments to be made by the Federal Grid Company to implement the measures under the Agreement shall exceed 48 billion rubles.
