The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Prime Ministers of Russia Vladimir Putin and of France Francois Fillon after the 15-th meeting of the Russian-French Commission for Bilateral Cooperation at the level of Heads of Governments.
The goal of the memorandum is to unite potential of the three companies, each of which is the leader in its market segment. By merging their efforts and know-how, the companies expect a great synergetic effect: Rosatom, in addition to setting up production of low-speed steam turbines and generators of 1,200–1,700 MW capacity using the ARABELLE™, which are planned to install in turbine islands of nuclear power plants, will expand the list of produced equipment with high-efficiency turbine generators capable of operating at supercritical steam parameters with a capacity of 600 MW (designed for a series thermal plant unit). Alstom will get a guaranteed sales market, and Inter RAO UES will design the turbine island and use this design at new power units.
As a result, customers both in Russia and in any other world country will be offered a complete set of the NPP or TPP turbine island on the turn-key terms. Since, these are strategic agreements, Rosatom and Alstom will consider a possibility of Inter RAO UES having a share of Alstom-Atomenergomash (subject to management by Rosatom).
Besides, on that day two more memoranda were signed: Alstom and Atomenergomash signed a Memorandum of Understanding concerning development of economic activities and technical capabilities of Alstom-Atomenergomash LLC, and Alstom-Atomenergomash LLC and Inter RAO-WorleyParsons LLC signed a memorandum on strategic cooperation and partnership.
