These two institutes are the main ones in Russia, a lot generations of power engineers were educated there.
The event was attended by deputy director general – Aleksandr Popov, head of executive office of “IDGC Holding”, JSC, Aleksandr Uzhanov, head of communication policy at “IDGC Holding”, JSC, Yuriy Zhukov, chairman of Coordination Council of Veterans of distribution grid complex, Sergey Serebryannikov, rector of Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI), Yuriy Kovalenko, director general of Russian Electronic Technical Institute named after Lenin V.I.
The date of laying the stone is also symbolic. It is written on that stone “Foundation stone is laid on December 21, 2010 to the occasion of 90th anniversary of GOELRO plan”, so the monument should represent several generations of power engineers.
“More than 190 thousand of power engineers made their studies at Moscow Power Engineering Institute. Thanks to the hard work of power engineers and electricians we can enjoy the image of power station, without such men the economy will not make any progress", said Aleksandr Popov, head of executive office of “IDGC Holding”, JSC, at the ceremony.
“Our specialist show a strong will, professionalism and skills in everyday life while solving problems in power supply caused by natural disaster. This summer we had the possibility to make sure in it, when landscape fires seriously damaged north-western, central and southern districts of the country, in autumn and winter teams of electricians were restoring the energy supply damaged by the flood in Krasnodar region and ice in Ulianovskaya and Samarskaya region”, said Aleksandr Uzhanov.
The ceremony of laying the foundation stone was also attended by electricians from “MOESK” (Moscow Unified Electric Grid Company) branches – Central electric grids and Moscow cable grids. From the name of electricians of distribution grid complex of the Holding, electrician of 4th category from “Priokskie electric grids” (Ryazanenergo) Vladimir Kisilyov expressed his thanks for attention and care of the managing company – Holding IDGC.
Two young specialists, future of power industry - a third-year student Oleg Aushev and Anton Redkin, postgraduate and teacher at Moscow Institute of Power Engineering were to take off the cloth covering the foundation stone.
