Kursk NPP: the results of work in 2010 have been summarized

In the Public Information Centre Director of Kursk NPP Nikolay Sorokin has held a press-conference dedicated to the results of the nuclear power plant activity in 2010 and objectives for 2011. Nikolay Sorokin told the journalists about development of the country’s nuclear power industry in the departing year and specifics of Kursk NPP activity in this year.

“In rather difficult conditions of 2010 we reach the maximal result of the entire Kursk NPP history – annual production of more than 28 billion kWh of electric power,” N.Sorokin noted and stressed that during KuNPP operation the safety priority was maintained.
Nikolay Mikhailovich said that improvement of power units’ reliability by means of the modernization, implemented in the previous year, as well as repair time reduction (with preservation of all work volumes and quality) and increase of reactor installation’s power were among the reasons that had contributed to such high results.
Kursk NPP increased its assignments to budget of different levels. There were preserved and even developed social programs – by means of the corporate mortgage the amount of dwelling flats, purchased by NPP workers, was increased and a partial payment for young specialists’ accommodation was begun.
The major objectives of Kursk NPP personnel for 2011 are to provide safe, reliable and stable operation of power units, produce 29.109 billion kWh of electric power, increase the repair campaign efficiency, implement the “Rosatom” production system during NPP power unit repair, realize programs of energy efficiency increase and electric power production increase, etc.
The journalists were very interested in the presentation of the results of a special project called “Nuclear Stands to Country Libraries of the Plant Location Territories”. Kursk NPP PIC Director Elena Schepotyeva said that the new project had became an “information breakthrough” of objective information about nuclear power industry and Kursk NPP into the depth of the country.
Special exhibition units with literature about KuNPP and nuclear power industry development in Russia have been already installed in N.N.Aseev Central Library and intervillage libraries of three Kursk region areas, the closest to the nuclear power plant. Meetings of NPP workers with the readership, attended by representatives of local authorities and artistic intelligentsia and schoolchildren, are organized.
Irrefragable answers were given to all numerous questions of mass media representatives aroused by the topics, presented at the press-conference.
In conclusion, an awarding ceremony for laureates of the “Clean Energy” regional journalist contest in accordance with the results of the second half of 2010 was held.
