During the drill, ROSP specialists, members of the military unit for Kola NPP protection, and the nuclear plant security service successfully worked out joint actions in case of appearing an off-nominal situation and practical skills on a full-fledged model of a block control panel.
The organization of that kind of training at the operating sites of nuclear power industry provides the opportunity of objective estimation of the measures taken for the purpose of providing a counter sabotage protection.
Kola NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located 200 km to the south of Murmansk on the bank of Lake Imandra. Power unit No.1 of Kola NPP was commissioned in 1973. Currently, the plant operates 4 power units with VVER-type reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 440 mW. Kola NPP supplies power for Murmansk region and Karelia.
