Changes in the technology of its production considerably reduced the contents of sulfur (down to 50 ppm), benzene and aromatics in AI-95 gasoline, which are the main pollutants of the environment.
Improving the quality of oil products is just one stage of TNK-BP’s investment program for 2011–2012 oriented to production of fuels of the Euro-4 and Euro-5 standards at the Saratov Oil Refinery.
TNK-BP is planning to build an isomerization unit at the Saratov Oil Refinery with a capacity of 300,000 tons a year, upgrade the complex of hydro-treatment facilities, and implement other projects for producing Euro-4 and Euro-5 oil products and increasing the volume of their production from 6 to 7–7.5 million tons a year. The investment program of the Saratov Oil Refinery for 2011–2012 implies investment of more than $300 million in this period.
“Increasing the processing depth and throughput, improving the quality of products, and minimizing the environmental impact are the principal tasks of the refinery. Customers, the top priority of our company, will get higher-quality and environmentally-friendlier fuels for their vehicles,” said Alexander Romanov, General Director of OJSC Saratov Oil Refinery. “Transition to production of eco-friendly fuels compliant with the Euro-4 and Euro-5 standards is the next stage of the Saratov Oil Refinery development program based on the requirements of the new state technical regulations coming into force next year.”
