Landis+Gyr, the leading global energy management solutions provider, today announced a significant milestone resulting from its software development cooperation agreement with SAP: Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream MDUS (smart meter data unification and synchronization) is now an SAP-qualified business solution. With this step, Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream MDUS integrated with the SAP® for Utilities solution portfolio can deliver an end-to-end integrated offering, helping ensure investments made can adapt and fit into future IT architecture .
“Landis+Gyr has been working intensively with SAP for over a year developing this software, and we are proud to announce Gridstream MDUS is now an SAP-qualified business solution,” said Andreas Umbach, President and Chief Operating Officer, Landis+Gyr. “The functionality provided by Gridstream MDUS integrated with SAP for Utilities solutions will undoubtedly help increase our customers’ competitiveness as well as cost effectiveness and, importantly, has been proven in a field installation. Finally, as services continue to evolve, we will share product road maps with SAP to help utilities manage energy better.”
SAP-qualified business solutions are complementary to SAP software offerings and provide additional choices and flexibility for organizations running SAP software. An SAP-qualified business solution is developed or integrated in accordance with SAP development guidelines, has certified integration with the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform, and has undergone solution qualification by SAP to meet additional criteria. SAP-qualified business solutions address a specific business or technology focus such as advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). They have an established track record of successfully serving customer needs in the focus areas selected by SAP.
“Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream MDUS, now an SAP-qualified business solution, will help enable utilities to optimize utilization of the power grid and generation assets, reduce energy costs for consumers, and improve customer competitiveness,” said Stefan Engelhardt, head of Utilities Industry Business Unit, SAP AG. “With this new category of SAP-qualified business solutions, SAP continues to expand its ecosystem, driving new levels of collaboration and providing additional choices and flexibility to our customers. Using Gridstream MDUS integrated with SAP for Utilities will enable our customers to more quickly reap the benefits of a smart metering platform that delivers improved efficiencies at a lower total cost of ownership.”
This latest development comes after Landis+Gyr and SAP announced in 2009 an agreement to integrate Landis+Gyr’s AMI with SAP for Utilities to deliver a new level of transparency and availability to energy utilities.
Utilities around the world have the ability to benefit from three key results that have come out of the close collaboration between Landis+Gyr and SAP: software quality assurance through a proven customer development cycle; synchronised release planning between Landis+Gyr’s MDUS and SAP AMI Integration for Utilities software; and a 24x7 service support call option.
