The contract was signed by TENEX Director General Alexei A. Grigoriev and USEC Senior vice-president Filip G. Sewell in the presence of Rosatom Director General Sergey V. Kirienko and USEC President John K. Welch.
«We believe this new contract will further strengthen our long-term relationship with USEC. This contract with USEC together with the Russian uranium products supply contracts signed in 2009-2010 directly with US utilities will allow TENEX to maintain our firm market position in the US when the HEU Agreement is complete», — said Alexei Grigoriev.
When the contract comes into effect, which requires an approval by the State Corporation «Rosatom», USEC and TENEX expect to conduct a preliminary feasibility study to explore the possible deployment of an enrichment plant in the United States employing Russian centrifuge technology. Any decision to proceed with such a project would depend on the results of this preliminary feasibility study and would be subject to further agreement between the US and Russian governments.
