Ukrenergo Renewed DTEK Vostokenergo’s Access to the Cross-Border Transmission Capacities of Burshtyn Energy Island for Electricity Exports

Марта 29, 2011

The National Power Company Ukrenergo (Kyiv) has renewed the full access of Vostokenergo (Donetsk), DTEK’s power generation subsidiary, to the cross-border transmission capacities from the ‘Energy Island of Burshtyn TPP’ to the grids of Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania for electricity exports, a source in the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry informed the Ukranews agency.

According to the source, early March Ukraine put in service a back-up electricity transmission line to resume exports.
At the same time, overhaul of the failed transformer is still in progress.
Ukrenergo is reported to be conducting the repairing works at its own expense.
As the agency had informed, in February Ukrenergo granted Vostokenergo the access to the transmission capacities of Burshtyn Energy Island allowing the company to export electricity up to 545 MW to Slovakia, Hungary and Romania in 2011.
The transmission capacity of Burshtyn Energy Island varies, depending on season, from 495 MW to 545 MW.
