Visund personnel evacuated

Апреля 11, 2011

The current situation on the Visund platform is that 60 people remain on the platform after the remainder were flown to nearby installations. 39 persons were sent by helicopter to the floatel "Safe Scandinavia" and 24 persons were sent to Gullfaks C.

There were 123 people on board Visund at the time of the incident. The personnel remaining on board have various emergency preparedness duties. The weather in the area remains good, and there is good access to emergency preparedness resources.
In addition to our own submarine remotely operated vehicle (ROV), Statoil has mobilised the standby vessel "Island Frontier" which will carry out an underwater inspection with its own ROV to identify the source of the gas leak.
Visund is an oil and gas field in blocks 34/8 and 34/7, 22 kilometres north-east of the Gullfaks field in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea.
Coming on stream in the spring of 1999, this development comprises a floating production, drilling and quarters platform.
The subsea-completed wells on the field are tied back to the floater with flexible risers. Oil is piped to Gullfaks for storage and export. The Visund field began producing gas and exporting it to continental Europe on 7 October 2005.
Visund North is a separate subsea development about 10 kilometres from the platform.
