The event took place in Chisinau, from April 7 through April 10, 2011, under the generic title “The Romanians around Romania” (“Românii din jurul României”).
Thus, Rompetrol supports the Romanian community of Kazakhstan for the purpose of preserving the cultural values, traditions and customs and supports also the cultural exchange among the members of the Romanian Diaspora.
The volume of poems contemplates the life of the Bessarabian poet Simion Plămădeală, who was deported during the 1950s in Kazakhstan, his work for a 30 years period in the coal mines of Karaganda, the homesickness for his natal places. His refuge in poetry has a cathartic function, that of filtering the suffered endurance, of searching and acknowledging the Romanian language and identity, beyond the ideological space and historical time.
