In its annual report SPAEP draws attention to NPP safety issues

Two public dialogues were held in JSC SPAEP within the framework of preparation for the annual report of 2010. On the back of the accident at Japan NPP, special attention was paid to the safety issues of designed nuclear power plants.

The first dialogue considered the topic called “IT-Platform Engineering Development. Multi-Software Envelope for Construction Design”, the second dialogue – “Integrated Control System of NPP Construction Projects”.
Engineering Director of JSC SPAEP Anatoly Molchanov noted that in its projects the company had always paid special attention to safety issues: “Since the project of NPP with VVER-640, our institute, with its 82-year engineering experience, has been developing only those projects that are aimed at prevention of what happened in Japan.
A crucially new approach to the safety of nuclear power plants was developed right after the accident at Chernobyl NPP. There was developed a government program on safe and environmentally friendly nuclear power industry – and during the NPP engineering we worked very hard on that issue.
All those present at the public dialogues had the opportunity to ask questions and all of them got irrefragable answers. JSC SPAEP personnel and company guests shared the view that the issues, raised by the dialogues, will be reflected not only on paper, but in working processes of the enterprise as well."
