The honorary diploma of the Contest organiser – the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) was presented by RUIE President Alexander Shokhin during the Russian Business Week held in Moscow.
The contest that annually takes place in Moscow on the initiative of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) selects the most dynamic organisations in the industry based on ranking scores. Another objective is to support sustainable development of independent and responsible companies, which meets long-term business interests.
It is the second time in a row that Sakhalin Energy has won in this prestigious contest: last year, RUIE also distinguished Sakhalin Energy’s remarkable social activity on Sakhalin. The programmes of the oil and gas Company are aimed designed to support health care, modernisation of public and educational infrastructure and development of the Sakhalin indigenous minorities. Apart from the projects that are significant for the entire region, the Company also places great importance on financial and organisational support of small projects and local initiatives, as well as charity initiatives of its employees.
Sakhalin Energy’s social responsibility, its activity in the sphere of sustainable development and implementation of social programmes are highly appreciated at all levels, including Russian and international organisations and institutions. Having joined the UN Global Compact eighteen months ago, the Company has not only become its active member, but was also the only Russian company invited by the UN to participate in the platform for corporate sustainability leadership – UN Global Compact LEAD in the Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) area. It was only a well-deserved recognition of Sakhalin Energy’s role in asserting the BSR principles, when Andrey Galaev, the Company CEO, was elected Chairman of UNGC Network Russia Steering Committee.
