Leningrad NPP Environmental Management System complies with national standard requirements

Such conclusions were made according to the results of the committee work at Leningrad NPP on the EMS surveillance audit under the guidance of Leading Auditor, CCS DQS LLC Head of Control System Certification Audit Group A. K. Dibrov.
Earlier according to the results of the external audit, held in April, 2010, Leningrad NPP had already obtained the Green Passport on the LNPP ecological management system compliance with these national state standard requirements.
The financial audit included an analysis of ecological management system elements performance, check of all existing papers on EMS and audition of LNPP subdivisions, included in EMS. According to the program, besides the check of paper work on EMS, the audit group visited a number of Leningrad NPP subdivisions working places and interviewed the personnel, concerning background knowledge of Concern Rosenegroatom OJSC and LNPP Ecological Policy and plans for this policy implementation with the connection to certain operating activities, as well as its ecological aspects – the activity elements, which have an impact on the environment in the course of the production function implementation.
At the final meeting A. K. Dibrov commented on the conducted audit materials, having noticed, that in comparison with the last year, there had been extreme changes for the better. “LNPP Ecological Policy comprises all ecological fields and complies with all requirements. And almost always all EMS requirements are implemented”, he said.
The auditors also made a note of a great work in terms of introduction and ecological popularization of the environmental management system, done by LNPP Environment Security Department in the preceding year. In his turn, Environment Department Head V.K. Oleynik, who was responsible for LNPP EMS, expressed his satisfaction with the audit results; he thanked the auditors for short hints in the practical questions. “The previous audit is the jumping-off place to the further system improvement”, V.K. Oleynik said.
According to the audit materials the committee drew up and presented to Leningrad NPP party a report, describing strengths and weaknesses of the EMS operation at Leningrad NPP, as well as containing a number of recommendations for further improvement of the ecological management system. The next EMS audit will be held in 2012 at LNPP.
