Board of Stroytransgaz – the general contractor, senior management of FGC UES branch – Main Power Grids (MES) of the Centre, Engineering and Construction Management Centre of the Unified Energy System, and representatives of other contracting and engineering organizations also entered the conference. The participants discussed the coordination aspects of the contractors' activity in relation to the project carried out within the FGC UES investment program.
The 2011 November-December commissioning of main power grid facilities will provide the Moscow Energy System with additional 1,000 MW power capacity generating by a new energy block of Kalinin nuclear power plant. This will ensure new customers and increase the reliability of the energy system. The power grid facilities construction is completed according to the approved schedule and within the established deadline.
At present the installation of foundation and power transmission line supports is completed by 60% at the power distribution facilities; 58 km of wires are installed; construction and installation works are accomplished; and HV line 750 kV overhangs to the Kalinin nuclear power plant are prepared for energizing. In June SO UPS considers the possibility to connect new power line sections to the Unified National Electric Grid (UNEG).
The works for substations construction and equipment installation are being executed. In particular, 750 kV Gribovo substation under construction (Moscow region) with specified transformer capacity of 3,904 MVA is completed by 70%, the equipment foundation is near completion. The construction of 500 kV Dorokhovo substation is half-completed, the installation of equipment is under preparation.
The expansion of 750 kV Belozyorskaya substation is under way in Vologda region. While construction and installation works are being carried out, the unique AT 750/500 kV autotransformer is being installed. The substation capacity will increase from 1,251 to 3,003 MVA due to the expansion.
The construction and upgrading of the power distribution facilities for energy block No. 4 of the Kalinin nuclear power plant is being implemented by application of innovative and energy-efficient technologies. In particular, the architectural look of the substations is improved; windows are fitted with I-glass, which allows cutting down the expenses on the substation facilities heating in winter. The junctions are equipped with red-spectrum neon lamps in order to prevent power line faults in darkness hours; fixed systems of infrared control over thermal condition detect the equipment faults at the early stages of operation that significantly reduce the substations repair period.
Totally, over 440 km of HV line 220-750 kV will be installed for the power distribution of the new energy block of the Kalinin nuclear power plant; more than 6,758 MVA of transformer capacity is put in operation.
