"Turboatom" is modernizing equipment at the Kalinin NPP

In accordance with the contract “Turboatom” will replace turbine condenser capacity of 1000 MW with copper-nickel tubes for cooling the condenser with stainless steel piping system. As a result of the work turbine capacity will increase by more than 5 MB. Also increase the life of the equipment, improve its reliability and safety.
The scope of the obligations of the enterprise includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation supervision, participation in commissioning, testing and introduction of the guarantee of the equipment.
At this stage there is a development and coordination of the project.
According to Chief Designer of steam and gas turbines words Victor Shvetsov, one of the main differences between the works on this contract is the manufacture of equipment for the third class of security in accordance with requirements in the nuclear industry. "And that special rules of weld joints, control, execution of design documentation, as well as certain standards of product quality," - he stressed.
As part of the Kalinin NPP has three units with pressurized water reactors (VVER-1000). On two blocks of the Kalinin nuclear power plant since 1982 installed turbines manufactured by OJSC “Turboatom” with unit capacity of 1000 MW each.
