COTES specialists visited the Turano Lodigiano power plant

Today German, American, Italian, Chinese and Korean companies are the leaders in these spheres. COTES representatives managed to hold meetings with some of the leading companies.  
Within the framework of Power-Gen Technical Tours, COTES specialists visited the Turano Lodigiano power plant renovated in 2010. The power plant comprises a combined cycle with two gas turbines (AE94.3 A) and a steam turbine (2+1 configuration), delivering a nominal output of 800 MW. The base load efficiency measured during testing was higher than 57% with CO and NOx emissions much lower than 30 mg/Nm3. Furthermore the plant has been designed to deliver maximum operating flexibility in accordance with legal atmospheric pollutant emission criteria.
Straight after the POWER-GEN Europe COTES specialists took part in the Magaldi Open Week End (MOWE) held in Venice on 9-10 June 2011, organized by Magaldi Group.
COTES specialists visited Fusina power plant where they could witness Magaldi dry bottom ash handling system in operation. This technology allows for reduction of heat and carbon loss, as well as for increase of boiler operating efficiency. Owing to this advanced technology dry ash can be used for cement production, road construction etc.
In addition, it allows for reduction of water consumption of the power plant and power consumption of the bottom ash handling system, as well as environmental impact decrease. More than 130 similar systems are installed at large power facilities worldwide, while there is no Magaldi system operating at Russian power plants. However, according to the opinion of COTES engineers, dry bottom ash technology shall come to our country in the nearest future.
