Model Region for Electric Mobility Munich: E.ON completes charging infrastructure for electric cars in surrounding area

Commuters can conveniently change to public transport there on their way to the city center and charge up their vehicles in the meantime. Thus E.ON is implementing experiences from earlier fleet tests. These have shown that drivers prefer to charge their vehicles where they park their vehicles for longer periods of time in any case. At every electric fuel station two electric cars each can simultaneously charge eco-electricity from E.ON hydro-electric power stations.
The 20 or so stations are used by drivers participating in the model project "eflott" (efast) in particular. This summer 20 Audi A1 e-tron vehicles will also come onto the roads in Greater Munich. As part of the "eflott" project supported by the Federal Ministry of Transport, the project partners want to gain experience in the practical utilisation of electric cars. There is a particular focus on customer needs with reference to using the vehicles and charging infrastructure here.
In addition to the charging stations in the area around Munich, E.ON will shortly start operations with extra electricity fuel stations in the city itself, thus offering drivers a dense network of charging possibilities. Charging possibilities in private garages will be progressively added to this. Overall, E.ON is setting up around one hundred charging points in and around the Bavarian capital as part of the "eflott" project.
In doing so latest generation of E.ON electricity fuel stations are coming into use. On the basis of project experiences made up to now, the energy provider has developed a charging station for publicly accessible areas where two vehicles can charge simultaneously. Here, the column identifies the user with an magnetic card and processes the data for billing. The charging stations have already proved themselves in several pilot projects in Europe.
E.ON already offers corporate customers individual complete solutions for charging electric vehicles today. These solutions range from needs analysis and consultancy, tailor made infrastructure, up to operating and billing the facilities. E.ON is bringing a user-friendly charging box onto the market for private customers soon, which will make simple and safe charging of electric cars without extension cables possible in home garages.
