The Company made consistent steps to enhance the efficiency of the integrity program through introduction of cutting-edge technologies aimed at prevention of potential incidents and environmental impact. For instance, an innovative method of pipeline leaks prevention was introduced at Samotlorneftegaz facilities in 2012. The new systemic approach detects internal and external pipeline defects at early stages and helps to predict changes in the infrastructure condition.
The accuracy of measurements made during the pilot project is times better than that of the existing analogues. Application of the new method helped the Company to achieve 50% reduction in the number of pipeline leaks in Samotlorneftegaz, as compared to 2011.
Elena Kompasenko, TNK-BP Vice President, HSE, noted that the technology proved its high efficiency and would be rolled-out in all the Company fields. "The innovative approach ensures maximum control of the pipeline systems' condition and prevents potential loss of containment at a very early stage. This is a totally new approach which will not only minimize our impact on the environment, but also reduce our costs related to the Company pipelines maintenance by 50%. In 2013, we plan to spend over two billion rubles for preventive measures aimed at pipeline integrity in Samotlorneftegaz," she said.
