LUKOIL opens a training center in Iraq

Today LUKOIL Overseas Mid-East Ltd., LUKOIL's operating company for West Qurna-2 project, has opened a new training center in Basra Province in Iraq.

The center is intended for theoretical and practical training of local personnel for West Qurna-2 field in well production, treatment of oil and gas, instrumentation and control systems, operation of electrical and mechanical equipment. The training program was provided by SPIE Oil&Gas Services, one of the global leaders in the area of training technical personnel for large oil and gas projects. The program consists of several competence-oriented modules and includes necessary applied technical disciplines, HSE, leadership development courses and on-the-job training.

In addition to classrooms, the center hosts specialized computer-equipped training laboratories for English language and special disciplines, a library, technical support office, training workshops, an administrative building, staff room, canteen, first-aid post and a recreational area. The facility can simultaneously host up to 350 students.

The first group of 200 students will complete their training in July 2013 after which they will be immediately assigned to different facilities of West Qurna-2 field. The second group of 150 students will begin training on January 14, 2013.
