GE’s 15,000-th 1.5 Megawatt Wind Turbine Supports Training of Future Wind Technicians at Basin Electric’s Crow Lake Wind Farm

GE announced that its 15,000th 1.5 megawatt (MW) wind turbine has been installed at Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s Crow Lake wind farm in South Dakota; one of 108 GE 1.5 MW turbines recently commissioned at the site. The turbine, which will be owned and operated by Mitchell Technical Institute (MTI) through an agreement with Basin Electric, will provide hands-on learning opportunities for students enrolled in MTI’s Wind Turbine Technology Program.

On February 9, 2011 the Board of Directors of JSC “FGC UES” (“Federal Grid” or the “Company”) approved the termination (reduction) of participation of the Company in JSC OGK-1, JSC RusGydro, JSC OGK-2, JSC OGK-3, JSC OGK-4, JSC OGK-6, JSC TGK-1, JSC TGK-2, JSC Mosenergo, JSC Kvadra, JSC TGK-6, JSC Vozhskaya TGK (TGK-7), JSC TGK-9, JSC Fortum (TGK-10), JSC TGK-11, JSC Kyzbassenergo (TGK-12), JSC TGK-11 Holding, JSC Bashkirenergo, JSC Eniseisky TGK (TGK-13), JSC TGK-14, JSC Sangtudinskaya GES-1, JSC OES GruzRosenergo. The decision is subject to approval by the general shareholders’ meeting of Federal Grid as the transaction of interest.

Federal Appeals Court Hears Arguments in GE Patent Dispute with Mitsubishi

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (Washington) heard arguments in GE’s patent dispute against Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. for certain wind turbine technologies that GE alleges MHI has infringed. GE spokesman Dan Nelson released the following statement:

The number of executed contracts increased by 28% in comparison with the previous year. The number of contracts for technological connection was 15509. Asking capacity was 294.6 MW, including the 194.8 MW of generating facilities.
