AREVA was awarded a major contract to install a solar thermal addition to CS Energy’s coal-fired Kogan Creek power station in Queensland, Australia. This solar boost project, supported by the Australian and Queensland Governments, will be the world’s largest solar integration with a coal-fired power station.

“Institute Hydroproject” performed 3D scanning of Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP

For the first time the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP has been subjected to 3D laser scanning. The studies were performed by the specialists of JSC “Institute Hydroproject”, part of JSC “RusHydro”. On the basis of obtained data 3D models have been developed for mapping the current state of the hydropower plant rehabilitation.

BP and Rosneft Extend Share Swap Deadline

BP announced today that it has agreed with Rosneft to extend the deadline for completing the share swap agreement (previously announced on 14 January) to 16 May 2011. The agreement between the two companies followed the 8 April decision of the arbitral tribunal to allow them to discuss extension of the deadline. This means that the share swap agreement will now not terminate on 14 April 2011.

Shtokman: first pipeline gas supply in 2016 and start up of LNG Plant in 2017

On April 13 a regular Shtokman Development AG Board meeting was held in Zurich (Switzerland). Having reviewed the proposed gas transportation options the Shareholders approved two phase flow as the Project technical concept. The two phase flow concept implies delivery of gas and gas condensate onshore from the field followed by separation.

Bulgaria: AREVA and BEH sign cooperation agreement in the field of nuclear power and renewable energy

AREVA and the Bulgarian Energy Holding Company have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop clean energy projects in Bulgaria based on the group’s low-carbon technologies. As a long time partner of the country, AREVA intends to extend its contribution to Bulgaria’s civil nuclear program and assist in developing local renewable energy sources such as biomass and wind.

The Katharina UGS facility will assure reliable gas supplies to Western Europe, its marketing at the Mallnow, Waidhaus, Gaspool and NCG hubs as well as deliveries via the Nord Stream gas pipeline. Upon reaching the nominal capacity the UGS working gas volume will amount to 629 million cubic meters.

Gazprom and Shell discuss implementation of joint projects in Russian and international energy markets

The Gazprom headquarters hosted a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company's Management Committee and Peter Voser, Chief Executive Officer of Shell. The parties discussed interaction of the companies within the Protocol on Strategic Global Cooperation. Particular attention was given to the issue of joint projects implementation in Russia's Far East and Western Siberia.
