In its annual report SPAEP draws attention to NPP safety issues

Two public dialogues were held in JSC SPAEP within the framework of preparation for the annual report of 2010. On the back of the accident at Japan NPP, special attention was paid to the safety issues of designed nuclear power plants.

Irkutsk Oil increased 1st quarter production by 61% compared with the same period of 2010

Irkutsk Oil Company produced 252.9 thousand tons of oil and condensate in the 1st quarter of 2011, a 61% increase over the same period of the last year. The increase was reported at all producing company’s fields including Yaraktinsky (206,000 tons or 63.3% increase) and Danilovsky (35,200 tons or 36.6% increase).

Natural gas extracted from shale formations has a greater greenhouse gas footprint - in the form of methane emissions - than conventional gas, oil and coal over a 20 year period. Sosnovy Bor nuclear scientists, as a part of the Russian delegation, have come back from Belgium, where they visited one of the two Belgian nuclear power plants – Tihange. The visit to the NPP, as well as Nuclear Research Centre was organized by Rosatom State Corporation in order to review the experience of Belgium’s nuclear facilities operation and implementation of environmental and social programs in the territories of their location.
